麻花视频 University (WNE) is delighted to announce that Bridgette Baldwin, a distinguished member of our legal community, was recognized for her outstanding achievements in the category of Social Impact at the . The ceremony, to be held on September 21 at the prestigious Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston, will celebrate attorneys who have made significant contributions through community improvement efforts on behalf of client populations in need.

The Social Impact category acknowledges work in pro bono and/or public sector roles, aligned with programs aimed at promoting diversity, environmental sustainability, social justice, and public service. The New England Legal Awards showcased an exceptional group of honorees in 11 categories who have gone above and beyond in addressing pressing social issues and advocating for positive societal transformations.

Baldwin is a distinguished Professor of Law, specializing in criminal law and procedure, international criminal justice, cybercrime, evidence, critical race theory, and the intersection of race and the law. Her scholarly work has examined the intricate relationship between the Ninth Amendment and social movements, as well as the convergence of race, class, and gender within the context of welfare reform legislation.

As a certified DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) facilitator, Baldwin has conducted numerous training sessions addressing vital topics such as microaggressions, unconscious bias, and culturally responsive teaching for both public and private sectors. "It has always been my desire to be an advocate or, as I tell my students, a maker of change," said Baldwin. "Change never happens overnight and usually no one recognizes your efforts. Being presented with the Social Impact award has shown me that someone was paying attention. And while I do not advocate for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion to be recognized, I am motivated to continue to do what I love doing."

Dr. Baldwin's professional journey is marked by her service as a Staff Attorney for the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society in New York City, followed by her tenure as a Staff Attorney for the Bronx Defenders in the Bronx, NY. She also has valuable experience as in-house Counsel for a major insurance company and has contributed her legal expertise at the esteemed law firm of James P. Nunemaker & Associates.

Her academic credentials include a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and her Ph.D. attained from Northeastern University Law, Policy, and Society program in 2010. Her doctoral dissertation, "Wisconsin Works? Race, Gender and Accountability in the Workfare Era" stands as a testament to her commitment to advancing understanding in complex legal and social intersections.

"Dr. Baldwin's dedication to community improvement and her impactful contributions in the legal sector have set a high standard for excellence and social responsibility," remarked School of Law Dean Zelda Harris. "Through her pro bono work and public service initiatives at 麻花视频 University, she has made a profound difference in the lives of individuals and communities in need, showcasing a commitment to fostering positive change."

The New England Legal Awards have become a platform to celebrate legal professionals who have taken up the mantle of social responsibility and community engagement. This year's event saw the convergence of legal experts from across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and beyond, coming together to recognize the exceptional contributions made in the field of law.
