Â黨ÊÓƵ University's College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is proud to announce the launch of its new six-year Extended Distance Learning Pathway (DLPx) for Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students, beginning in fall 2024.
The DLPx is designed for students who aspire to pursue a career in pharmacy but may require a more flexible timeline. Dr. Courtney Doyle-Campbell, program director for the PharmD Distance program, states, "The DLPx provides the same comprehensive curriculum as our full-time distance and in-person pathways but at a slower pace, allowing students to achieve their academic goals while maintaining a balanced life. We are excited to offer this unique opportunity to students."
The WNE Doctor of Pharmacy DLPx consists of a 146-credit curriculum, blending online classroom instruction with hands-on, in-person experiential learning. With a low student-faculty ratio, students benefit from personalized attention, fostering a dynamic learning environment. Throughout the program, students engage in discussions and apply pharmaceutical, clinical, and administrative sciences in both digital and in-person classrooms.
The program incorporates Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE), providing students with supervised opportunities to integrate classroom skills early in the program and evolve into independent practitioners during the final year.
Dr. Doyle-Campbell emphasizes, "Our goal is to prepare students for success in the field of pharmacy by providing a comprehensive educational experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application."
In addition to the Extended Distance Learning Pathway, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences also offers a four-year distance program, providing students with a high-quality online alternative to the on-campus PharmD program. For more information and to apply, visit the Â黨ÊÓƵ University website. Applications for the PharmD Distance Pathway - Extended program are now open for the upcoming academic year.
It's important to note that this pathway is still pending full accreditation approval. Â黨ÊÓƵ University has applied for approval from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) for the new PharmD Distance Learning Pathway – Extended. A site visit is scheduled for April 2024, with approval expected in June 2024. In the event that the pathway is not approved, applicants will be offered a seat in a different pathway, or their deposit refunded.
