Information Technology students are required to complete an internship and Computer Science students may complete an internship as a technical elective. All internships are paid and count towards course credit. The department helps place students in internships and past internships have included:
- Aided development of the Network Security Policy for the Springfield Police Department
- Implementation of a company-wide upgrade of 1200 computer systems at MassMutual
- Network intrusion detection at ISO New England
- Support of complete application development lifecycle at Voya
- Desktop support at Babson Capital Management
- Service desk support for the Office of the Commissioner at Major League Baseball
- Installation of new manufacturing systems to standardized the processing of raw materials at 3M
