About

Transformative Education for Healthcare Leaders Leaders

In just over a decade, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Â黨ÊÓƵ University has gained a reputation for its nurturing environment, characterized by a faculty who inspire and mentor students from day one to graduation and beyond. In caring professions, amidst unprecedented challenges and changing roles, there can be no better atmosphere to model these values.

That support has a direct correlation to our graduates’ high pass rates on licensure examinations, strong residency placement rates, and the respect we have garnered for regional involvement with interprofessional education in both pharmacy and occupational therapy.

Agile and innovative, resilient and confident, our graduates are well-prepared for the workplace of tomorrow and to serve their communities and advance their professions. Students learn by doing through a robust technology program that includes simulations, and high levels of student engagement in service, scholarship, and research.

Our programs emphasize the cultivation of divergent thinking skills, social and emotional intelligence, empathy, and a sense of humanity. Indeed, WNE graduates of the Doctor of Pharmacy program were not only on the front lines of COVID-19 testing and immunization, they were 20 feet in front of it. That is the WNE way.

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is proud to be a part of an institution now nationally ranked by US News and World Report. Leveraging the broad-based offerings of the University, we are able to offer accelerated degree programs in collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences such as a six-year Health Studies to OTD Degree, and 0-6 Doctor of Pharmacy program, which guarantees qualified high schools seniors a seat in our PharmD program after completing two years of preprofessional studies. The College also offers combined PharmD/master’s degrees in collaboration with the College of Business for students who see their future in either business administration or organizational leadership roles. In addition, the College offers two new master’s programs in pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacogenomics. The College also welcomed the additon of the Neuroscience undergraduate degree program in 2022. Other exciting opportunities are on the horizon.

If you are called to serve in the varied career paths of today’s pharmacy profession or seek to become a transformative leader with a Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree, now is the time to embark on that path—and the place is the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Â黨ÊÓƵ University.

Vision & Values

The Â黨ÊÓƵ University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences endorses the vision of shaping new models of excellence in interprofessional practice, preparation of practitioners to be leaders, educators, and change-agents for improvements in population health settings and individual patient/client care in diverse environments.  The College upholds the following set of core values:

  • Personal and professional development through lifelong learning. Our programs create an environment for faculty, learners, and practitioners to learn, maintain, and expand their knowledge, skills, and attitudes in order to meet the healthcare needs of the patients/clients they serve.
  • A learner-centered approach to education. Our educational programs are focused on our learners who are primarily responsible for attaining their own educational outcomes; faculty and staff help guide and facilitate the learning process in partnership with learners.
  • Teamwork and collaboration. Achievement and success result from the contributions of all team members (learners, faculty, staff, patients/clients, practitioners, and other healthcare professionals). Interprofessional teamwork and collaboration are essential in creating optimal care outcomes for patients/clients.
  • Professionalism. We believe professionalism is defined by the principles of excellence, humanism, accountability, and altruism.
  • The belief that the provision of care is a privilege that requires engendering the trust of patients/clients and other healthcare professionals.
  • An open learning environment defined as informed discussions for the betterment of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for our community of learners (faculty, staff, students, and practitioners).
  • The pursuit of new knowledge. We are committed to the advancement of disciplinary knowledge and the research and scholarship of our community of learners.
  • Innovation and forward thinking. Our commitment is to prepare learners for practice, using practice models of today and innovative models destined to be those of the future.
  • Service, advocacy, and leadership. Our commitment is to serve the community (local and global) both as citizens and healthcare professionals.
